In the Initiative, we try to use language that is easily understood. Academic texts are often written in a way that makes it hard for anyone except experts to understand them, and they almost never explain uncommon terms to the reader. The Initiative hopes to take on the obstacles that block access to information in our society, taking them apart in the process.
So we, the Initiative, would like to call on all authors to keep their language accessible by staying away from foreign terminology and long complicated sentences. And if you do have to use expert terminology, please provide an explanation directly in the text.
Please feel free to let us know if any of our texts are difficult to understand; we are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
