Our thoughts are with those who were imprisoned, tortured, and murdered in this camp, as well as with those who survived it. You are not forgotten! Remembrance is resistance!

With music and speeches by survivors and their relatives as well as by initiatives against racism and antisemitism.

The Uckermark Memorial Site is located directly next to the Ravensbrück Memorial Site (MGR) in Fürstenberg/Havel. Starting at 2:15 p.m. there will be a shuttle to the site from the MGR visitor center. The area is largely paved and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The commemoration ceremony will take place at the memorial stone, centrally located on the site.

The Liberation Day Memorial Celebration will be held in German. There will be an English and Polish interpreter. Please contact us if you need translation into any other languages (including German sign language), and we will try to organize the appropriate interpreters.

Prior to the commemoration ceremony, we will provide a guided walking tour of the memorial site in German (please register at: initiative@gedenkort-kz-uckermark.de). The tour will start at the turn-off from the Berlin-Copenhagen bike route towards the Uckermark Memorial Site, directly behind the Ravensbrück Memorial Site. It will end near the memorial stone.

How to get to the Uckermark Memorial Site

Both Memorial Sites, Uckermark and Ravensbrück, are located about 90 km (56 miles) north of Berlin. The nearest train station is Fürstenberg/Havel on the Berlin-Stralsund line. The most convenient way to get from the Fürstenberg station to the Uckermark Memorial Site is by bike, however it is also possible to walk there (approx. 45 minutes).

From the “Ravensbrücker Dorfstraße,” follow the signs for the “Mahn- u. Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück.” After the “Fürstenberg” town sign, turn right on “Himmelpforter Landstraße.” Continue along that road – you will be walking/riding/driving alongside the Ravensbrück Memorial Site – until the beginning of the bike path to Himmelpfort (that is the Berlin-Copenhagen bike route). Take the turn-off and follow the signs to the Uckermark Memorial [“Gedenkort Uckermark“]. From here, it is approx. 1.5 km to the memorial stone. The event organizers reserve the right to exercise their property rights and to deny access to or exclude from the event persons who belong to right-wing extremist parties or organizations, who belong to the right-wing extremist scene or who have already made racist, nationalist, antisemitic or other dehumanizing statements in the past.

Attention! Due to rail replacement services between Berlin Südkreuz and Oranienburg, it is currently not possible to take bicycles with you. We will endeavor to pick up visitors from Fürstenberg station if the walk is too long for them. We ask those who have registered for the tour at 1 pm to let us know by e-mail if they need a shuttle: initiative@gedenkort-kz-uckermark.de Please check the railroad website for the current situation. We look forward to seeing you and will do our best to support you from Fürstenberg.
